This State of Survival review is based on official sources and player reviews, not on our own play time. FunPlus's zombie survival strategy game has been on mobile since 2019 and on Steam since 2023. You build a settlement, recruit heroes and fight zombies and other players with an alliance. It is free on iOS, Android and Windows, and the official site also offers a Mac launcher. Money buys Biocaps, crates and passes, and FunPlus publishes odds in Korean.

What is State of Survival?
State of Survival is a free-to-play zombie survival strategy game from FunPlus; its mobile title is State of Survival: Zombie War. Set six months after a zombie outbreak, it has you build and defend a settlement: upgrade buildings, research, train troops, gather resources and recruit heroes, then craft and enhance gear such as Tempest Arms and Energy Conversion Units.
Alliances are central. Members defend a capital together, join cross-server battles and take part in state events such as State Warfare. The store text also lists Survival Royale, where you escape a shrinking danger zone and fight other players, and Desert Survival, where you pick the human or monster side. Crossovers in 2026 brought Rambo, The King of Fighters XV and Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth characters, per the App Store update notes.
The game reached Google Play on August 26, 2019 and Steam on August 2, 2023. Version 1.27.100 on October 14, 2026 added the Core Conspiracy State Event and Doomsday Open Season 4, and version 1.27.200 followed with fixes on October 28.
Is State of Survival free to play?
Yes. Steam, the App Store and Google Play list State of Survival as free, and FunPlus's official site offers free Windows and Mac launchers.
Biocaps are the premium currency, and FunPlus's official guides and developer notes show where they sit next to free resources. Wounded troops are healed in the Hospital with resources or Biocaps, Behemoth Patrols take Plasma Cores or Biocaps, and Biocaps can be exchanged for Stamina. The developers have said that mini games such as Feeding Frenzy, Jungle Gems and Lucky Cards have daily free attempts, and that Scratch Cards come from many game activities, not only purchases.
As of October 30, 2026, the US App Store's top in-app purchases include Biocaps from the Pouch of Biocaps at $0.99 to the Crate of Biocaps at $19.99, crates from the Special Crate at $2.99 to the Mega Crate at $49.99, and a Big Deal at $4.99. Google Play shows a range of $0.49 to $199.99 per item.
Is State of Survival pay to win? What money buys
Money buys Biocaps and crates, and Google Play's rating notes In-Game Purchases (Includes Random Items). Biocaps also pay for boosts: FunPlus's guide to march capacity says the 8-hour Mega March Capacity Boost costs 13,000 Biocaps if you do not have one. The game has VIP levels, which the developers said in 2024 were due for an overhaul, and paid passes: the notes for version 1.24.800 describe a Fog Manual that players purchase to unlock perks by completing tasks.
FunPlus publishes a probability page for the game in Korean. It lists item-by-item rates for the Lucky Gacha, Surprise Boxes, Lucky Slots, Alliance Boxes, Ray's Place, Epic Search and a position roulette, with pools that include hero fragments, Legendary hero badges, skill books and speedups.
Heroes, gear, troops and boosts all feed PvP: cross-server battles, State Warfare and alliance events in which players attack each other's cities and rallies.
Based on what the official stores sell, we rate it as strongly pay to win; we will check this again when we play it ourselves.
State of Survival on PC, Mac and mobile
State of Survival has official PC versions. Steam has listed it since August 2, 2023 as a free Windows game with Cross-Platform Multiplayer, Online PvP and Online Co-op. FunPlus's official site, stateofsurvival.game, links its own Windows launcher and, separately, a macOS installer, and FunPlus's game page also links a PC download.
Google Play lists Windows as an available device for the Android version, which means Google Play Games on PC. On Apple silicon Macs, the App Store also offers the iPad app, which needs macOS 12.0 or later and an Apple M1 chip or newer.
On phones and tablets, the game is on the App Store and Google Play as State of Survival: Zombie War, and the App Store build also supports Apple Vision Pro. FunPlus lists no console version. The official site also links a web Top-up Centre run by FunPlus.
State of Survival system requirements
Steam lists low PC requirements. Minimum: 64-bit Windows 7 SP1 or newer, an Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 or AMD Athlon x64 4000+, 4 GB of RAM, an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 or Radeon HD 4400 or better, DirectX 10, a broadband connection and 8 GB of storage. Steam gives no separate recommended tier beyond a 64-bit processor and operating system.
FunPlus's official site does not list requirements for its own Windows launcher or for the Mac installer.
On Apple devices, the App Store version needs iOS or iPadOS 15.0 or later and is about 1 GB; on a Mac it needs macOS 12.0 or later and an M1 chip or newer. If you use Google Play Games on PC instead, Google's minimum is Windows 10 version 2004, 8 GB of RAM, four physical CPU cores, an Intel UHD Graphics 630 or comparable GPU, an SSD with 10 GB free and hardware virtualization turned on.
