What is Guns of Glory?

Guns of Glory is a free strategy MMO from FunPlus that launched in 2017. FunPlus sets it in an alternate-history Europe of musketeers, cannons and steam-powered machines: you build a city, train an army, research upgrades and join an alliance. FunPlus describes a mix of real-time strategy and RPG elements, with airships, estates, troops and equipment to customize.

In May 2023, FunPlus added Lost Island, a story arc in which ghost pirates turn on the Iron Mask's lands, and both stores now carry that name in the title. The current listings describe an expedition team sent to a fog-covered island, fights with ghosts, sea monsters and pirates over buried treasure, puzzle stages, a tavern and artifact crafting. The same update added the Relic War alliance event, Treant Invasion rallies, new Guards and a Mermaid system with Treasure Diving.

Heroes shown on the official site include the pirate Blackbeard, Jacquotte Delahaye, Milady de Winter, Aramis and the archaeologist Peggy, each tied to a troop type such as Firepower, Infantry or Cavalry.

Is Guns of Glory free to play?

Yes. Both stores list Guns of Glory: Lost Island as free with in-app purchases. Google Play's description says the game is completely free to download and play, that some items are sold for real money and that a network connection is required. The official site offers its Windows client as a free download and also links the Android APK directly.

FunPlus called Lost Island a DLC update, but the stores sell no separate expansion: the app is a single free download. FunPlus's May 2023 post on that update says some powerful Guards can be recruited for free, and it describes alliance content such as Treant Invasion, where members are rewarded by the number of Treants defeated, and the Relic War, where control of each ruin is decided by Alliance Points.

Google Play lists more than 50 million downloads. Its description suggests turning on password protection for purchases if you do not want to buy items, and the App Store text points to the device settings for turning purchases off.

Is Guns of Glory pay to win? What money buys

As of October 30, 2026, the US App Store lists Gold from a $0.99 Pouch to a $99.99 Wagon, plus Daily Gift Packs from $0.99 to $19.99. The App Store description adds a monthly subscription at $19.99 for 30 days that renews automatically and grants exclusive privileges it does not spell out. The official site also links a web top-up store. Neither store says exactly what Gold buys.

Random items are a large part of the shop side. Apple lists Loot Boxes and Google Play flags random items. FunPlus's probability page for the game, published in Korean, lists odds for Normal and Advanced hero recruitment, Honor Challenge boxes, pirate chests, a Lucky Egg, a pirate wheel, rally chests and palace appearance boxes, and some of those pools contain research speed-ups. The page adds that odds which change with a player's progress are shown only in the game.

FunPlus describes a multiplayer strategy MMO in which you raise an army, shoot down enemies and grow an alliance into an empire, so heroes and troops gained through these systems are used against other players. The 2023 update post notes that some strong Guards are free.

Based on what the official stores sell, we rate it as strongly pay to win; we will check this again when we play it ourselves.

Guns of Glory on PC, Mac and mobile

On Windows, the official site's GOG on PC button downloads FunPlus's own PC client, an installer named Guns.of.Glory.PC.V1.0.exe. The site's FAQ for it covers logging in on PC with a character created on mobile, hotkeys, a multi-instance mode, enabling VT (hardware virtualization) and what to do when you are prompted to turn off Hyper-V. There is no Steam or Epic Games Store listing.

On Mac, the App Store lists the iPhone and iPad app as compatible with Macs that have an Apple M1 chip or later and macOS 12.0 or newer, and with Apple Vision. The official site offers no separate macOS download.

On phones, the game is on the App Store and Google Play under the name Guns of Glory: Lost Island. The App Store listing dates back to September 21, 2017, so Lost Island is the current title of the original game rather than a separate release. There are no console versions.

Guns of Glory system requirements

FunPlus does not publish hardware requirements for the Windows client on the official site. The PC FAQ only has entries on enabling VT (hardware virtualization) and on a prompt to turn off Hyper-V, plus fixes for black or red screens, COM interface errors and a stuck loading screen.

On Apple devices, the App Store listing for version 14.3.0 requires iOS 15.0 or later on iPhone and iPod touch, iPadOS 15.0 or later on iPad, macOS 12.0 or later on a Mac with an Apple M1 chip or newer, and visionOS 1.0 or later on Apple Vision. The download is about 1.2 GB. The App Store lists 20 languages, among them English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese and Japanese.

Both store descriptions say a network connection is required, so the game cannot be played offline. Updates are frequent: the App Store shows a new version roughly every two weeks in 2026, most recently 14.3.0 on October 19.
