Summoners War: Sky Arena review

This Summoners War review is based on official sources and player reviews, not on our own play time. Com2uS's turn-based monster-collecting RPG has run since 2014 and lists more than 1,000 Monsters and 23 Rune Sets. It is free on iOS, Android and, since January 2024, Windows through Steam, where you can keep your mobile progress. Money buys Crystals, summon packs and Rune packs priced $2.99 to $99.99 on the US App Store.

What is Summoners War: Sky Arena?

Summoners War: Sky Arena is a turn-based fantasy RPG from Com2uS. According to its store listings, you collect Monsters of five attributes, Fire, Water, Wind, Light and Dark, from a pool of more than 1,000, and equip them with Runes. The official site lists 23 Rune Sets; a four-piece Violent set, for example, gives a Monster a 22% chance to take an extra turn.

PvE content includes the Cairos Dungeon, the Rift of Worlds, the Dimension Hole, Tartarus' Labyrinth and real-time three-player raids. On the PvP side, the listings describe real-time duels that start with Pick & Ban, Challenge Battle, where both sides get the same provided Monsters, the World Arena and Guild PvP such as Siege Battle. Com2uS also runs an esports circuit, the Summoners War World Championship (SWC).

The official history page dates the launch to 2014. The game is still updated: v9.3.8 reached Steam and the App Store on October 28, 2026, adding Monsters from a Frieren collaboration.

Is Summoners War free to play?

Yes. Steam lists Summoners War as Free To Play, and the App Store and Google Play list it as free with in-app purchases. Google Play also notes that the Android app contains ads.

The paid currency is Crystals, but the store descriptions name several ways to progress without paying. Summon Mileage builds up as you summon and grants a guaranteed default 5-star Monster, and special tasks for new and returning Summoners also guarantee a 5-star Monster. Since the v9.0.0 update in November 2025, Ameria's Luck raises drop rates for high-grade items in the Cairos Dungeon and the Rift of Worlds by up to more than 5x for up to 500 Energy used per day.

Events add more free rewards. During the Sky Fever Season event, which ended on October 25, 2026, players earned Fever Tokens by spending Energy and running Scout Battle, then traded them for a default 5-star Monster at max level and max skills.

Is Summoners War pay to win? What money buys

As as of October 30, 2026, the US App Store lists these top in-app purchases: Crystal bundles from $2.99 (Handfull of Crystals) to $99.99 (Chest of Crystals); Pack 10, Pack 30 and Pack 60 at $9.99, $29.99 and $99.99; a Light-Dark Pack at $29.99; and a Rune Summon Package (Violent) at $29.99. Google Play shows a range of $0.99 to $99.99 per item, and Com2uS also runs an official web shop.

Apple's listing carries a Loot Boxes notice, and Google Play's rating lists In-Game Purchases (Includes Random Items). Runes matter for strength: the official site says rune sets raise stats such as attack speed, critical damage and HP. Monsters and Runes from paid summons and packs also fight other players in the World Arena and Guild PvP. Challenge Battle is the exception, because both sides use the same provided Monsters.

The official website and store pages checked on October 30, 2026 do not publish summon probabilities.

Based on what the official stores sell, we rate it as strongly pay to win; we will check this again when we play it ourselves.

Summoners War on PC (Steam), Mac and mobile

On PC, Summoners War is available through Steam, where Com2uS released it on January 7, 2024 as a free Windows game. The official site's Play on PC button links to that Steam page. Steam marks it as Windows-only, with partial controller support.

Progress carries over. Com2uS's Steam launch notice says you can continue with your current account on Steam by signing in with the same login credentials, with separate steps for players who used a guest account. Since update v8.2.9.1 in April 2024, Steam Deck players can also sign in with Google, Facebook or Apple.

Google Play lists Windows as an available device too, which means the Android version through Google Play Games on PC. On Macs, the App Store says the iPhone and iPad app runs on macOS 12.0 or later with an Apple M1 chip or later. The official site offers only the mobile stores and Steam, with no console version.

Summoners War system requirements

Steam lists the Windows requirements.

Minimum: 64-bit Windows 10, an Intel Core i3, 4 GB of RAM, an NVIDIA GTX 460 or better, DirectX 11 and 10 GB of storage.

Recommended: 64-bit Windows 10, an Intel Core i5, 8 GB of RAM, an NVIDIA GTX 660 or better, DirectX 11 and the same 10 GB of storage.

On Apple devices, the App Store version needs iOS or iPadOS 13.0 or later and takes about 2.2 GB. If you play the Android version through Google Play Games on PC instead of Steam, Google's own minimum applies: Windows 10 (v2004), 8 GB of RAM, four physical CPU cores, Intel UHD Graphics 630 or comparable, and an SSD with 10 GB free.

Com2uS's Steam notice from launch week advised players whose game crashed on start-up to update their graphics driver first.
