What is MARVEL Strike Force?
MARVEL Strike Force is a free-to-play turn-based RPG from Scopely. You build squads of Marvel Super Heroes and Super Villains, such as Spider-Man, Venom, Iron Man, Loki and Captain America, and fight 5v5 battles in which pairing specific heroes and villains forms synergies, according to the App Store description. Characters grow with gear, Training Modules, Gold and Ability Materials.
Scopely's help center covers the main modes: Campaigns, Blitz, Raids, Alliances, Arena, Alliance War, Cosmic Crucible, Avengers Tower, Pocket Dimension and Time Heist. Several of them put your roster against other players, including Arena, Alliance War and Cosmic Crucible, and the help center also mentions real-time matches called RTA.
The game launched on March 28, 2018, and Scopely posts patch notes and event blogs on the official site. Version 10.7, released on October 19, 2026, added Essence cap alerts for the Celestial Transducer and a processing indicator for purchases.
Is MARVEL Strike Force free to play?
Yes. The App Store and Google Play list MARVEL Strike Force as free with in-app purchases, and the App Store description calls it free-to-play. The browser version uses the same account, so it costs nothing extra.
Scopely's help center names Power Cores as the main currency, used for Orbs, Energy Refills, Health Packs, Supplies and Arena Charges, and Gold as the soft currency for training characters and crafting gear. Orbs can also come from Orb fragments earned in play, not only from purchases. Supplies list gear pieces and character shards and refresh for free every 8 hours, or sooner if you pay Power Cores.
Unclaimed promo codes show up as a Free Claim at the bottom of the Offers section, per the help center. Ultra Credits come automatically when you get shards for a character who is already at 7 stars.
Is MARVEL Strike Force pay to win? What money buys
As as of October 30, 2026, the US App Store's top in-app purchases run from $0.99 to $19.99, including Power Cores at $1.99, a Cluster of Power Cores at $4.99, a Bundle of Power Cores at $9.99 and a Case of Power Cores at $19.99, plus offers and bundles. Google Play shows a range of $0.99 to $199.99 per item. Scopely's help center says limited-time offers sell bundles and characters, and Purchasable Calendars pay out rewards for logging in over a set number of days. The official web store also has a Battlepass Offers section.
Orbs are paid random items that can give character shards, gear, Training Modules, Gold or Ability Materials. Scopely publishes an Orb Probability Information page and says it syncs with the in-game disclosures. Apple lists Loot Boxes for the game.
In a September 15, 2026 post, Scopely said it tests offer contents and prices, so offers can differ between players. Characters from offers and Orbs also fight in Arena, Alliance War and Cosmic Crucible.
Based on what the official stores sell, we rate it as strongly pay to win; we will check this again when we play it ourselves.
MARVEL Strike Force on PC, Mac and mobile
MARVEL Strike Force is a mobile game for iPhone, iPad and Android, and the official site links no downloadable PC client and no Steam or Epic version. Instead, it has a Play on Web button that runs the game in a desktop browser.
Web play is for existing players. Scopely's help center says you must already have played on mobile and logged in there with your Scopely ID, and the Play on Web button only appears once you sign in to marvelstrikeforce.com with that Scopely ID. Purchases made in the web client are claimed from the Home Screen or the Inbox, preset keyboard bindings can be switched on, and Discord in-game chat is not available on the web.
Because the browser version supports macOS 10.13 and later as well as Windows, Mac users can play the same way. Scopely lists no console version, and the Google Play listing does not show Windows as an available device.
MARVEL Strike Force system requirements
For the browser version, Scopely's help center lists these minimum requirements: Windows 7 or macOS 10.13, a dual-core CPU such as an Intel Pentium N4000, an integrated GPU such as Intel HD 3000, 8 GB of RAM and Chrome 90 or newer. Scopely recommends the latest Chromium-based browser. Edge 90+, Firefox 88+ and Safari 14+ are supported but may have issues, and other browsers may have audio problems. If your device falls short, the game shows a "Web Playable not supported" error.
Scopely does not publish a separate recommended spec for web play.
On mobile, the App Store version needs iOS or iPadOS 15.0 or later and takes about 498 MB. Google Play lists the Android version as free with in-app purchases and a Teen rating.
