Enlisted review
A large WWII squad shooter with good Steam ratings, but a premium account brings extra squads into each battle.

It is free on Windows PC, on Linux through Steam, and on PlayStation and Xbox. Money buys Gold, a Premium account, premium squads, an Elite Battle Pass and, at times, random Golden Chests. Its score follows our research formula and can change once we play it.

What is Enlisted?
Enlisted is an online World War II shooter in which you lead a squad rather than a single soldier. According to the Steam page, each player commands AI-controlled soldiers and can switch to another squad member when one is killed. Battles mix infantry, tanks, armored cars, motorcycles and aircraft, and crews can leave a damaged vehicle and keep fighting on foot.
There are four nations: the USA, the USSR, Germany and Japan. The official site lists fronts including Normandy, Moscow, Tunisia, the Pacific and Stalingrad, with more than 250 weapons and more than 150 tanks in its research trees. A built-in mission editor lets players publish custom missions to public servers.
Gaijin overhauled the game in November 2023: separate campaigns were merged into the four nations, linear progression was replaced by research trees, and most currencies were folded into one earned currency, Silver. Updates continue; the official news page lists patches and a new Battle Pass season announced for November 4, 2026.
Is Enlisted free to play?
Yes. The official site puts it directly: "You can play Enlisted for free with no limitations." You need a free Gaijin.Net account, and the game is free on Steam and on the PlayStation and Xbox stores.
Progress runs on Silver, which you earn in battles and spend on weapons, equipment, vehicles, soldiers and upgrades. Research experience unlocks new items tier by tier. Events add free rewards: the Armory: Halloween event, running October 29 to November 10, 2026, gives a reward for every 12,000 battle score, including unique pistols and orders for themed sniper rifles. Each Battle Pass season also has a basic track with one weapon and one unique soldier.
The paid currency is Gold. As of October 29, 2026, the Gaijin.Net Store lists 500 Gold for $4.99 and 1,000 Gold for $9.99. Larger packs go up to 13,500 Gold, listed at $135 and discounted to $99.89 during an autumn sale.
Is Enlisted pay to win? What money buys
These are the paid items Gaijin lists, with Gaijin.Net Store prices as of October 29, 2026.
Premium account: 20 days for $5.99, 60 days for $12.99 or 180 days for $23.99. The store lists +100% research, squad and soldier experience, one extra infantry squad and one extra vehicle squad per battle, and room for more soldiers in reserve.
Premium squads: ready-made squads or vehicles, listed at $19.99 to $39.99 before discounts. The official site says they earn 100% more experience in combat and come fully equipped.
Gold: buys in-game items and, per the official site, speeds up progression. In the Armory: Halloween event, missing rewards can be bought for Gold for two days after it ends.
Elite Battle Pass: four unique weapons, two soldiers, a tank camouflage and an aircraft per season, against one weapon and one soldier on the basic track.
Chests: in June 2026 Gaijin sold a time-limited Golden Chest for Gold with random squads, weapons, vehicles and cosmetics. A Silver Chest has been sold for earned Silver. Gaijin's chest announcements do not list drop rates.
Based on what the official stores sell, we rate it as strongly pay to win; we will check this again when we play it ourselves.
Enlisted on PC, Linux and consoles
On PC, Enlisted runs on Windows through Gaijin's launcher from the official site or through Steam. The Steam page also lists Linux (SteamOS) with its own requirements, while the official site mentions only Windows PC. Neither the official site nor Steam lists a Mac version, and there is no mobile version.
For consoles, the official site links to the PlayStation Store and the Xbox store, and PEGI lists a PlayStation 5 release in May 2021. Steam lists cross-platform multiplayer and full controller support.
On PC you can choose between two client sizes: the official site lists a minimal client at 12.4 GB and a full client at 48.4 GB. The official site says you can sign in with an existing Gaijin.Net account or create a new one for free.
Enlisted system requirements
Steam lists these PC requirements. Minimum: Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit), an Intel Core i3 or better, 8 GB of RAM, an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 or AMD Radeon 78XX-series card or better, DirectX 11 and 49 GB of storage. Recommended: an Intel Core i5-10400 or AMD Ryzen 5 3600 or better, 8 GB of RAM and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 or AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT or better. A broadband connection is required.
The Linux requirements on Steam use the same processor, memory, graphics and storage figures. Gaijin's own site gives different storage numbers, 12.4 GB for the minimal client and 48.4 GB for the full client, and says the minimum supported resolution is 720p. The official page still names Windows 7 and 8 among supported systems, while Steam asks for Windows 10 or 11, so Windows 10 64-bit is the safer baseline.
