This Elvenar review is based on official sources and player reviews, not on our own play time. InnoGames' free fantasy city builder lets you play as elves or humans in a browser or on iOS and Android with one account. You research technologies, explore provinces, trade with other players and join a Fellowship, and InnoGames' guides describe no battles against other players. Diamonds buy speed-ups, premium city expansions, event currency for luck-based chests and seasonal passes.

What we liked

What we didn't

  • Premium Expansions and passes cost money
  • App store purchases can give fewer Diamonds than browser purchases, per InnoGames

What is Elvenar?

Elvenar is a free-to-play fantasy city-building game developed and published by InnoGames. At the start you choose to play as elves, who command magic, or humans, who lean on medieval weaponry. Almost every building can be upgraded several times to raise its productivity, and InnoGames says more than 200 improvements can be researched. You also explore provinces on a world map, collect relics that boost production and recruit units in Barracks, Training Grounds and, from the Fairies chapter, a Mercenary Camp.

Fellowships are the game's guilds and take part in Fellowship Adventures. Other features include Ancient Wonders, the Spire of Eternity, Evolving Buildings and Guardians. Main events run several times a year; the current one, Ripples of Autumn, uses Golden Spools to open chests. Seasons add daily and weekly quests with a reward lane.

The iOS app arrived in November 2017, and its App Store listing says one account plays on mobile, tablet and PC browser.

Is Elvenar free to play?

Yes. InnoGames' support page says registration is free of charge and that you can access all features and play as long as you want without paying. The browser version needs no download, and the App Store and Google Play list the app as free with in-app purchases.

Diamonds are the premium currency. InnoGames says you do not need to buy them, but they give benefits that can speed up progress. Besides real-money purchases, Diamonds come from community contests on the forum and social media pages.

Much of the event and city progress is earnable. During Ripples of Autumn you start with 50 Golden Spools, receive 35 more for each day you play, earn more from event quests and find extras around your city. Province Expansions cost nothing extra to place: completing 500 provinces on the world map unlocks 62 of them. Research Expansions need coins or, optionally, Diamonds.

Is Elvenar pay to win? What money buys

As of October 30, 2026, the US App Store lists Diamond packages from $4.99 for the Small Diamond Chest to $79.99 for the Legendary Diamond Chest, plus special offers from $1.99. InnoGames says buying in the browser can give the same or more Diamonds than buying through an app store.

Diamonds pay for Premium Expansions beyond the free ones and for event currency. In Ripples of Autumn, Golden Spools can be bought with Diamonds and spent on chests whose rewards depend on luck, including Unit Instants, Rune Shards and the Daily Exclusive building. The App Store lists Loot Boxes and Google Play lists random items, but InnoGames' event pages give no drop rates. A Royal Prize Pass adds exclusive event rewards, and a Season Pass adds 150 Season Petals and premium lane prizes.

Paid boosts help against the game's own challenges. Event Leagues rank players by points, but the official guides describe no battles between players.

Based on what the official stores sell, we rate it as mildly pay to win; we will check this again when we play it ourselves.

Elvenar on PC, Mac and mobile

Elvenar's PC version is the browser game, with no download. InnoGames says it uses HTML5 and runs fine on Windows, macOS and Linux. InnoGames' game page lists three platforms, Browser, iOS and Android, so there is no desktop client or console version, and Google Play does not offer Elvenar through Google Play Games on PC.

The mobile apps are on the App Store for iPhone and iPad and on Google Play. InnoGames says you can switch between mobile and browser at any time and your progress stays synced. If you registered in the app, you may first need to set a password through the Forgot Password link on the browser login screen.

InnoGames notes that some features differ between the app and the browser version. Browser purchases go through InnoGames' own payment partners, with options that vary by country, such as credit card, PayPal, Apple Pay or Google Pay.

Elvenar system requirements

For the browser version, InnoGames lists conditions rather than hardware specs. The game needs a stable internet connection, an up-to-date browser and graphics drivers, and hardware acceleration enabled in the browser. If Chrome or another Chromium-based browser such as Edge or Opera fails to load the game or runs slowly, InnoGames suggests re-enabling hardware acceleration, updating AMD, Nvidia or Intel graphics drivers, or trying Mozilla Firefox.

On mobile, InnoGames supports Android 7.1.1 or higher and iOS 13.0 or higher. The App Store listing matches that, requiring iOS or iPadOS 13.0 or later, and lists a 328.6 MB download. Google Play's listing asks for Android 7.1 and up.

The App Store listing also notes that a network connection is required, so the apps cannot be played offline.
